What is the SecureChild Photo ID System?

SecureChild is a program designed to raise awareness about child safety and provide parents with an effective resource to aid law enforcement authorities in the search for a missing child. It was created to speed up the investigation and rescue process, with the hope that every child who goes missing will eventually come home.

The SecureChild Photo ID System provides one place for parents to store important documentation: photos of their child at different ages, fingerprints, vital statistics and emergency information.

Why is SecureChild Important?

Parents don’t like to think it can happen to them, but over 1,000,000 children are reported missing in the United States each year.1

Authorities say the single most important tool in helping to find a missing child is a good quality photograph. Nearly all parents have photographs of their children, but most do not have suitable photographs to release to law enforcement officials and the press in the event their child is missing.

SecureChild events give parents in Montgomery County, MD the opportunity to have all the information needed by authorities in search of a missing child compiled into one kit.

Do we Keep Any Information About Your Child On File?

No! All photos are taken and printed on site with a digital camera. Once the photo has printed, it is erased from the camera to make room for the photo of the next child in line! Similarly, we only fingerprint your child once and the fingerprint card used is a part of the kit you take home.
